   NQGA TROPHY POINTS COMPETITION

MIKE MULLINS TROPHY – ‘A1’ GRADE

WAYNE HALLER TROPHY - ‘B’ Grade

JOHN MACLEAN TROPHY - ‘C’ Grade

The above three trophy events are conducted during each golfing season, and are open to members of the affiliated member clubs of the NQGA, with the best performed golfer for the calendar year being awarded the trophy for that particular grade. The winner of each of the four trophy events will receive an embroidered shirt signifying his achievement.

To qualify for these events, golfers must play in the published open events, (notated GR – MM - WH - or JM) as listed in the NQGA Schedule of Major Events.

In order to determine the winners of each of the above trophy events, a bonus points system has been instituted. This bonus points system is also used to determine who will represent NQGA in the annual Inter-Association Teams Event, and also to select A-A1-B & C grade players to represent NQGA in the annual North v South Teams Event within the Association. The top 8 in all four grades will also be eligible to compete in the Matchplay event.

In the Inter-Association Teams Event, the top four (4) ‘A’ grade placegetters in the Graham Roberts Trophy, who meet the selection criteria as outlined elsewhere in this Match Schedule, will be selected to represent the NQGA.

In the annual clash North v South, the top six (6) placegetters in the four trophy points grades from each Division, (North from Home Hill north and South from Bowen south), who meet the selection criteria as outlined elsewhere in this Match Schedule, will be selected to represent their respective Division’s for the annual event.

The Top 8 overall from each of the four Trophy points scores will be eligible for the Matchplay event to be conducted by the Association.

Registration for Trophy Points
Players who wish to compete for trophy points at Open events in 2009, with a view to seeking representative honours, are to pay a $10.00 to NQGA to register their interest.

The fee can be paid at any time during the year, with players receiving trophy points only after they have paid the fee.

This fee will assist with the expenses involved in outfitting, transporting, and accommodating representative teams, and will also assist with the paperwork involved in processing trophy points.

Trophy Points

The allocation of trophy points to players in 2009 will be as follows.

1 day Opens-points ranging from 10 down to1.

2 day Opens-points ranging from 15 down to1.

3 day Opens-points ranging from 20 down to1.
                        All ties receive equal points.

Only those players who have paid their $10-00 registration fee prior to the staging of the Open in which they are competing, will be eligible for trophy points.
NQGA Representation

Players will be generally selected to represent the Association on their current standing in the Trophy Point scores.

Eligibility:          Players who have committed breaches of the rules in relation to NQGA representation at Open events held throughout the year, are ineligible for selection in any North Queensland Golf Association Inc representative team for that year.

GQ INTER-DISTRICT TEAMS EVENT

The NQGA team is selected on current standing on the Graham Roberts Trophy point scores at the time of selection – the leading four (4) players available, and eligible, being selected.

No Junior player (Under 18) is eligible to be selected in this team, as per directions from the GQ.

The NQGA provides the team members with a playing shirt and each player is to comply with the team playing uniform requirements. Travel and accommodation is provided.

The 2008 event will be played at Mount Isa.

NORTH V SOUTH EVENT

An annual competition is played between the two Intra association teams with 2009 venue being Mackay Golf Club.

Two teams are selected to represent the association, on the results of the Trophy points scores for the four grades.  The leading six (6) players on the points scores, regardless of age, are selected in the four grades for both the North and South teams with Home Hill and Bowen being the respective cut offs for North and South team divisions, providing that they are still in that Grade after the final Open for the year. In the event of one or more of these players being unavailable, or ineligible, the next highest ranked player(s) is/are selected.

Currently the competition involves Fourball Best Ball Match play matches on the Saturday afternoon and Singles Match play on the Sunday morning. The teams compete for a shield based on the overall results for all grades over the two events.

NQ JUNIOR REPRESENTATION TO STATE JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

A maximum of four (4) juniors will receive a subsidy to participate in the State Junior Championships to be held in January 2010. To be eligible for selection to receive this subsidy a Junior must:-
·     have independently nominated for the event
·     submit a claim for subsidy through their Home Club

GREG NORMAN FOUNDATION JUNIOR MASTERS

The GNF Junior Masters will be held at Cooloongatta-Tweed Golf Club in December 2009 with play being over 72 holes

v     v     Queensland Inter District Teams Competition
Each of the fourteen (14) District Golf Associations, based on the GQ structure, will be requested to nominate one (1) boy and one (1) girl to represent the Association in this competition which will be conducted in conjunction with the Masters.

v     v     Junior Masters
This is conducted in age division (u/18, u/16, u/14 & u/12) with the age groups applied to the date of the final of the event.
To be eligible to participate in this event a junior must first win the Association qualifying event for his respective age group and then be nominated by the District Association. All nominees for the Masters must be financial members of the GNF. The GNF will determine the final list of participating players for the Master and will issue invitations to participate after evaluating all nominees of the District Associations.
The GNF will arrange billets for participating players providing the relevant forms are submitted on time.
It should be noted that the GNF often sanctions selected events as additional qualifying events for the Masters.

v     v     NQGA Qualifying
The NQGA closed qualifying event in 2009 will be conducted at an event to be decided.
