District Pennant Rules & Decisions

1.    Pennant Matches will be played annually on the last weekend of July or, in extenuating circumstances, re-scheduled in accordance with

availability of courses.

2.    Pennant Teams will consist of:-

(a)             SILVER:        2 or 3 Divisions of 4 Teams.

Teams of six (6) with five (5) to play.

(b)             BRONZE:      3 or 4 Divisions of 4 Teams.

Teams of six (6) with five (5) to play.

3.    Handicap Matchplay Limitations are:

SILVER TEAMS:            Scratch to 18 or beyond if necessary.

BRONZE TEAMS:          Handicaps 19 and beyond.

Clubs may field players with higher handicaps than the maximum allowed for each division. However, under all circumstances, those players must play off

either an 18 handicap for Silver, or 29 handicap for Bronze, regardless of their current handicap.

NOTE:      The player’s handicap at 1ST JULY will determine the

Division in which the player can participate.  However,

current handicap must be used on day of play.

4.    (a)             Any Club (not already in the competition) wishing to enter Pennants, is required to playoff on a neutral course against the 4th Place

getter in the lowest division of either Silver or Bronze.

(b)                   If more than one club wishes to challenge, then the Challenging Clubs are required to playoff on a neutral course to select a Challenger.

5.    The Pennant Draw will be done in SEEDING ORDER in accordance with the previous season’s results. The loser of the Division shall be relegated

to the next Division below, and the winner of that Division be promoted to the division above. Any withdrawals from any division will not alter the

 seeding order.

6.    Clubs will be required by 30 APRIL annually to:

(a)                  Signify their intention to compete in Pennants for the forth- coming season, by paying the required pennant green fees with their

nomination. Teams MUST be able to supply 3 players from their own Club, prior to requesting additional player/s to form a composite team.

                        OR

(b)                  Notify the Association of their Club’s intention to challenge for a position in the Draw.  The winner of the challenge must then forward

their pennant green fees to confirm their nomination.

Composite teams are permitted. However Clubs must supply 3  players from their own Club, prior to requesting additional players to form a

composite team and make  every effort to field a team from their own membership in the first instance.

7.    Players taking part in Pennants must be fully paid up members of any affiliated North Queensland Golf Club, in whatever playing category

they so choose.  No player may play for more than one Club during the season.

8.    ALL matches shall be played on the date/s allocated.

9.    Play shall commence at a time designated by the Management Committee in consultation with the Host Club, and players must be ready to hit

off at the appointed time.  Forfeits may be given in any playing position (ie, if the No. 2 player forfeits for any reason, the opposing No. 2 player

will receive the forfeit.)  Forfeits once given cannot be withdrawn.

10. (a)             Clubs who cannot field a team prior to the commencement of

first match of the fixture will automatically be withdrawn from the Division, and no points will be awarded to any Club scheduled to

play the defaulting team.

                 (b)              During the course of the fixture, walkovers cannot be given if Clubs can field 3 players in any team.

(c)              In the event of adverse weather conditions, the official conducting

the event may cancel any matches which would not alter the result in any Division.

11. Order of Play will be in Handicap Order from the Lowest Marker down to the Highest Marker.

12. Teams first mentioned in the Draw will have the honour.   Match “Result Slips” will be given to each member of the team with the honour, and

are to be completed and handed into the Official on completion of the match.

13.  Team Captains shall prepare a list of their team in handicap order (as  at date of play) and simultaneously lodge with the officiating

WGNQ representative, 10 minutes prior to tee time.   Where a non-playing WGNQ executive member is unavailable to officiate, WGNQ

will appoint a person to act of its behalf.

14. Matches are to be played under Handicap Matchplay conditions in accordance with the Rules of Golf and the local rules of the Host Club.

Host Clubs, at their discretion, have the right to play Pennant Matches in groups of 4 to reduce the number of tee times used.

15. COST:  $10-00 per playing member per round.

16 A win between teams shall be secured by the team winning the greater
number of individual matches, based on the following points system:

2.    All matches finish at the 18th hole.  If match is squared, each competitor will be awarded one half point each.

3.    The team winning the most matches in the fixture will be awarded an additional 2 points for the team win.  Should the match be tied at 2-1/2 points each, then the 2 team points will be shared equally.

17. TIES.  At the completion of the competition, if teams are equal on Points, the following count back system is to be used:

(a)                  Add all matches won and drawn over each round of the

competition for each team.  The team with the highest total wins.

(b)                  If still equal, add the number of holes won by each team

during the complete competition;     and

(c)                  If a further count back is required, the No. 1 match for the team in all games is used.  If still equal, proceed through the matches in order,

until a result is obtained.

18.  MOTORISED BUGGIES.   Buggies are permitted for :

       a.  A player who has a disability, which prevents that player from participating

in the competition without the assistance of mechanical transport. The player
